Bill Maher Slams Donald Trump For Blaming Charlotte Protests On Drugs

"Yeah, they’re taking something alright — bullets."

Bill Maher tore into Donald Trump for suggesting that drugs are “a very big factor” in the Charlotte protests on Friday.

The “Real Time with Bill Maher” host compared the GOP presidential candidate’s asinine reaction to the demonstrations, which erupted in the North Carolina city following the fatal police shooting of 43-year-old black man Keith Lamont Scott on Tuesday, to those of a “90-year-old aunt.”

Watch the clip here:

Of course Donald Trump is making the situation better, as he always does,” Maher said, sarcastically. “He actually said this, ‘if you are not aware, drugs are a very big factor.’”

“He’s like your 90-year-old aunt, ‘they’re all taking something,’” the comedian added. “Yeah, they’re taking something all right — bullets.”

Trump connected the protests to narcotics, seemingly without any evidence to support his assertion, during a rally in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. “Drugs are a very, very big factor in what you’re watching on television at night,” he told the crowd.

But Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts later told CNN it was “presumptuous” of him to have done so “without having thorough conversations with some of the folks who are here on the ground and are really aware of what’s going on and what the reasoning is.”

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
