Denzel Washington (Not The Actor) Accused Of Choking Aretha Franklin (Not The Singer)

What are the chances?

What a coincidence ― but not a happy one for two entertainment icons.

A man called Denzel Washington (not the Denzel Washington) accepted a plea deal Wednesday after allegedly choking his mother, Aretha Franklin (not the Aretha Franklin), the New York Post reported.

Washington had caused “redness, bruising and substantial pain to her neck” in a January choking incident that happened at his mother’s New York City apartment, according to a complaint cited by the Post.

Franklin, 52, accused Washington, 20, of stealing money from her, so he allegedly grabbed her neck and threatened her, according to TMZ. He was arrested and ordered to keep his distance, but he showed up at his mom’s apartment again recently.

In a plea bargain last week, Washington agreed to a harassment violation, and was given a conditional discharge and ordered into anger management, the gossip site reported.

The famous multiple-Grammy winner Franklin, 74, and Oscar-winner Washington, 61, just happen to be close in real life. The Queen of Soul celebrated her 72nd birthday with the “Training Day” star at the Ritz-Carlton in New York City in 2014, the New York Daily News noted.
