A FIGHT OVER RUNNING MATES The vice presidential debate Tuesday night between Mike Pence and Tim Kaine featured an ongoing back-and-forth about the top of their tickets’ qualifications and positions. Kaine struggled at times with authenticity, while Pence came across as unflappable ― despite having to constantly defend and deny Donald Trump’s past statements. Trump’s biggest GOP critics loved Pence’s performance, and many pundits said the Republican vice presidential nominee won the debate with his appeal to classic conservatism aimed at reassuring voters unsure of the top of the ticket.
