Gay Syrian Refugee Reacts To Watching Trump And Fox News

"We just have to run for our lives."

A new interview is featuring a candid conversation with a gay Syrian refugee about his experiences with global attitudes towards refugees ― specifically after watching Fox News coverage.

The video comes from popular YouTube vlogger Davey Wavey, who spent the last three and a half weeks traveling the world and documenting the lives and stories of the extraordinary queer people he’s met.

Sarjon, the 20-year-old young man in the above video, is currenty living in The Netherlands and fighting to have his boyfriend join him there.

“When we see images of refugees on boats or groups of people crossing boarders, it’s easy to forget that each of those refugees is a person,” Davey told The Huffington Post. “When you hear Sarjon speak about his mother and his boyfriend, something very human in him speaks to something very human in all of us. Yes, he’s a refugee. And he’s also a person, deserving not just of our compassion, but also of our open arms - and open doors.”

Check out the interview above and stay tuned for more from Davey Wavey’s project.
