Lena Dunham's 'Heart Is With Kim' Kardashian After Terrifying Robbery

"That is a woman and a mother and a daughter who’s just been through something so heinous."

“Girls” star Lena Dunham has added herself to the list of celebrities supporting Kim Kardashian in the wake of her robbery in Paris.

In a conversation with “The Breakfast Club” radio show, the actress and outspoken feminist commented on the terrifying ordeal. “So awful. I literally am thinking about her every day like she’s my friend, even though I don’t know her,” Dunham said. “I’m like, ‘Is she feeling OK? Is she talking to somebody?’”

Kardashian was held at gunpoint inside a Paris hotel room on Sunday evening, where she was reportedly bound and gagged while thieves stole millions of dollars in jewelry as well as some personal items. She quickly became the subject of jokes for late-night hosts and Twitter users alike, but had some vocal defenders, including James Corden.

While discussing Kardashian, Dunham brought up the recent interview with Gigi Hadid published in her newsletter, Lenny. During Milan Fashion Week, the supermodel had to break away from a serial “prankster” who physically assaulted her, lifting her up in the air.

“That person felt, because she was a public figure, that he had the right to pick her up. He probably felt, ‘This is a model, she puts her body on display, so why aren’t I supposed to touch it?’” Dunham said.

“What I really hate about this Kim thing is that people are feeling so much license to make jokes, and it’s like, that’s a human being,” Dunham added. “And she may have put her life on display, and you may not agree with everything that she does, but that is a woman and a mother and a daughter who’s just been through something so heinous, so my heart is with Kim.”

One of the show’s hosts, Charlamagne Tha God, then chimed in to say, “It’s a simple gauge for me: A) Do you want it to happen to you? B) Do you want it to happen to somebody you love? If the answer is no, you can’t make jokes about it.” Sounds fair to us.
