Trump Surrogate Shot Down While Trying To Spin On Sexual Assault Claims

A surrogate for Donald Trump tried to downplay the growing number of sexual assault claims against the Republican presidential nominee as a “she said, he said” situation, before CNN’s Jake Tapper snapped her back to reality.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Tapper, Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) affirmed that the behavior Trump is accused of is indeed sexual assault, adding, “I’m not going to debate who’s telling the truth, but it’s a ‘she said, he said’ situation.”

“It’s more of a ‘she said, she said, she said, she said, she said, she said, she said, she said’ situation,” Tapper noted.

More than a dozen women have accused the Republican presidential nominee of sexual harassment and sexual assault. Trump has summarily denied the claims despite bragging in a 2005 tape published a week earlier about how he gets away with predatory behavior on account of his celebrity status.

Tapper’s response echoes some reactions to the Bill Cosby rape scandal in which dozens of women accused the star of rape and sexual misconduct that in some cases dated back decades.

Ellmers quickly tried to pivot to Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, noting the various allegations of sexual assault against her husband.
