Salma Hayek Rips Donald Trump: 'He Has Never Done Anything For America'

The Mexican-American actress had some harsh words for the Republican nominee.

Salma Hayek delivered a blistering rebuke to Donald Trump on Monday, calling the Republican presidential nominee a ā€œpatheticā€ man who creates ā€œonly violence and separation.ā€

Speaking on a conference call organized by Hillary Clintonā€™s campaign, the Mexican-American actress zeroed in on the apparent hypocrisy of some of Trumpā€™s statements about Mexican immigrants.

ā€œHe calls us criminals ā€” but who is the one who has a [fraud] lawsuit for Trump University?ā€ Hayek asked rhetorically. ā€œHe calls us rapists ā€” but who has a lawsuit for raping a young girl?ā€

Trump is facing a lawsuit in a New York court stemming from allegations that he raped a 13-year-old girl in 1994.

ā€œHe calls Hillary Clinton ā€˜crooked Hillary,ā€™ but last time I checked he has 3,500 lawsuits,ā€ Hayek said.

Hayek also contrasted the records of the two major-party nominees.

ā€œWe have the most qualified candidate in the history of America against the least qualified candidate in the history of America,ā€ she said.

ā€œHillary has been very thorough about what she wants to do, and she has dedicated her entire life to others,ā€ Hayek said. ā€œTrump has never done anything for America or for anybody else.ā€

The Trump campaign declined to respond to Hayekā€™s comments.

Hayek said she had never held such an event about an American political candidate. But interest in her opinion of Trump skyrocketed over the weekend, when it was revealed that the businessman once responded to her turning him down for a date by planting a false story about her in a tabloid.

ā€œEven if I didnā€™t have a boyfriend, I would never go out with Donald Trump,ā€ Hayek said at one point. ā€œNot my type!ā€

From a political perspective, it would certainly make sense for the Clinton campaign to hope the actress could help draw Hispanic voters to the polls, especially in critical swing states like Florida and Colorado.

On the same call, a Clinton spokesperson said that ā€œ133,000 Latinos have already cast ballots in Florida. That is a 99 percent increase over 2012.ā€

Editorā€™s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ā€” 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ā€” from entering the U.S.
