Mike Huckabee thought he was making a point in the form of an analogy.
The former Arkansas governor and prominent Donald Trump supporter was trying to say that the New Yorker’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president was no surprise.
What he came up with was this:
The New Yorker endorsed HRC. In related stories, Wimpy endorsed hamburgers, Dracula endorsed blood banks, and ticks endorsed Lyme disease.
— Gov. Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) October 26, 2016
Twitter users weren’t exactly impressed, especially coming on the heels of his famously bad “Jaws” analogy.
Here are some of the responses to Huckabee’s tweet:
@GovMikeHuckabee Mike this metaphor makes no sense at all.

@govmikehuckabee are you suggesting that ticks like having Lyme disease? You really screwed up the third beat here.
— Tommy Vietor (@TVietor08) October 26, 2016
@_ZD @fmanjoo @GovMikeHuckabee Ticks would endorse blood. Lyme is of no interest or advantage to ticks. Trump would endorse stupidity.

Shouldn't Lyme disease be endorsing ticks?
@racheleklein @GovMikeHuckabee Also the Popeye ref is showing your age a little bit my dude. Try something modern like Game of Thrones
— Casey Malone (@CaseyMalone) October 26, 2016
.@GovMikeHuckabee Serious Q: do ticks have a vested interest in Lyme disease? Dracula loves blood sure. Are ticks even AWARE of Lyme disease
— Justin Shanes (@justinshanes) October 26, 2016
@GovMikeHuckabee Some really current references in there
— David C. Bilas (@davidchristophr) October 26, 2016
.@GovMikeHuckabee you talking about this guy? You said that this guy endorsed blood banks to be President? pic.twitter.com/w74dwgYloD
— SEAN O'CONNOR (@seanoconnz) October 26, 2016
@justinshanes @GovMikeHuckabee also not to nitpick but does Dracula love blood BANKS? He seems like an in the moment guy. Idk.
— Eric Ledgin (@iamledgin) October 26, 2016
. @GovMikeHuckabee Good "rule of three" but the last one doesn't QUITE fit the pattern? Do ticks LIKE Lyme disease? Workshop this more?
— Rachel Klein (@racheleklein) October 26, 2016
@GovMikeHuckabee how many drafts did this take?

@GovMikeHuckabee I'm not clear on Dracula endorsing blood banks either. Why would he? Do you understand what a blood bank is?
— E John Schmidt (@EJohnSchmidt) October 26, 2016
@GovMikeHuckabee You don't do this very well.
— Jay Howlingsworth (@JayHollinsworth) October 26, 2016
This would fail an SAT test https://t.co/uhH4zyBFbb
— Farhad Manjoo (@fmanjoo) October 26, 2016
@GovMikeHuckabee Wouldn't a blood bank safeguard the blood & keep Dracula out, though? It's like saying "Burglars endorsed safes."
— John Tucker (@TransplAngeleno) October 26, 2016
@GovMikeHuckabee so you are saying that the New Yorker is going to *eat* HRC? And by the way, Quint STILL didn't kill the shark
— David Sheedy (@Devilish21ca) October 26, 2016
@GovMikeHuckabee I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE WITNESSED SOMEONE BE SO BAD AT TELLING JOKES JESUS MAN HIRE A GOOFBALL NEPHEW OR SOMETHING
