Richard Sherman may play for the Seattle Seahawks. But when it comes to magic, he’s Gryffindor all the way.

The All-Pro cornerback showed his true team spirit by dressing up as Harry Potter for his weekly press conference, according to FoxSports.com. Sherman showed up wearing a robe, glasses and the Gryffindor house tie.

He even carried a wand, which he pointed at reporters in the crowd, as this video by Seattle Times Seahawks beat writer Gregg Bell shows:

Sherman said he dressed up early for Halloween at the request of his son, according to CBS Sports.

“This is a serious occasion ― it’s Halloween,” Sherman told reporters. “My son told me he wanted me to wear something, so it’s happening.”

Harry Potter isn’t just a one-time costume for Sherman, a self-proclaimed nerd.

He said that his favorite Potter film is “Order of the Phoenix,” and that he’s definitely a Gryffindor.

Journalists, used to asking tough questions about upcoming football games, took the opportunity to ask more pressing questions, according to the Seattle Times:

Question: “What’s harder, Quidditch or five quarters of football?”

Sherman: “Five quarters of football is pretty tough, but Quidditch, the beaters, the chasers, trying to find the golden snitch, things like that, that’s tough. Five quarters of football, though, in the elements, I’d say that takes the cake.”

Question: You said that was your first and second choice for a costume. What was it about that costume?

Sherman: “When you’re a wizard, like we are out here, sometimes you have to show it to the muggles in the world. We’ve got a lot of wizards. My son’s a wizard. Earl Thomas does some magical things. Michael Bennett is Black Santa, but he’s also a wizard. You just have a good time. I just went to Harry Potter Land. That felt like home.”

One question asked about Sunday’s game with the Cardinals, which ended in a tie, but Sherman turned it back to Harry Potter.

Question: “How long after the Cardinals game did you start feeling human again? Or are you?”

Sherman: “Um, well, I’m definitely a wizard. So if you’re asking if I feel like a muggle again, I don’t.”
