Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) has stayed true to his vow to not vote for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Kasich wrote in Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 GOP nominee, on his absentee ballot.

“You want to vote for someone you can support,” a spokesman for Kasich told NBC News on Monday. “He’s been clear he can’t support Trump. He’s been equally clear he can’t support Clinton.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s followed the Ohio governor, who ended his own bid for president in May. In September, he told CNN that it was “very unlikely” he’d vote for Trump. Then in October, following revelations that Trump once bragged about groping women, Kasich said that he would “not vote for a nominee who has behaved in a manner that reflects so poorly on our country.”

It’s unclear if he also wrote in Sarah Palin, McCain’s 2008 running mate and a vocal Trump supporter.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
