Robin Roberts Offers Words To Live By During Hall Of Fame Induction

She truly is an inspiration.

Robin Roberts, the “Good Morning America” anchor who made her mark at ESPN, offered thanks and life lessons on Tuesday while being inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Roberts, a cancer survivor who has also battled a rare blood disorder, reminded the crowd at the New York Hilton that people of all stripes want the same opportunities.

“You can wish, hope and pray all you want ― I’m a very spiritual person ― but you know that you need the help of others to make your goals, make your dreams come true,” she said.

Roberts said she really wanted to be a tennis star when she was younger, but her lack of talent got in the way. So she decided to become a sports journalist.

“I made it to Wimbledon,” she said. “I didn’t have a tennis racket in my hands. I had an ESPN microphone in my hands. And I am so grateful for the opportunities.”
