Robin Thicke and brother Carter are paying tribute to their father, Alan, a beloved television dad who won the hearts of American audiences for his role on ABC’s “Growing Pains.”

Alan Thicke died Tuesday after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with Carter. He was 69.

Carter tweeted a remembrance of his father after news of the actor’s death made headlines.

The late actor was a lifelong hockey fan, and shared his love for the sport with his family. He posted the below photo of him and Carter on Instagram in 2015, writing that the “Thicke apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

Singer Robin Thicke remembered his dad in an interview with the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.

“The Times spoke with Robin Thicke on Tuesday evening, and he called his father “the greatest man I ever met” and “always a gentleman.” He confirmed that Thicke suffered a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter, and that one of the last things he said was a compliment to his son on a nice shot.”

Robin added that he was recently with his father. “I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him,” he said. The singer also posted a tribute to his father on Instagram.
