Trump And Clinton Characters To Appear On 'American Horror Story'

When we found out that the upcoming seventh season of “American Horror Story” would be themed around the 2016 presidential election, it wasn’t clear what to expect.

Would there be “a Trump”? “Maybe,” said co-creator Ryan Murphy. Given past seasons of the campy horror anthology series, however, it seemed that any relationship to real-life events would be tangental at most.

Murphy has now confirmed our suspicions. And no, you silly geese, series regular Sarah Paulson will not be playing Hillary Clinton, he told E! News.

“I think people literally think Sarah Paulson is playing Hillary Clinton,” Murphy began. Again, that is not true.

“I wanted to clarify that that is not true,” he stated. “’Horror Story’ is always about allegory, so the election is allegory. It’s our jumping-off point. It is about the election we just went through and what happened on that night and the fallout of that night, which to many people, from all sides of the camps, is a horror story. And you know, that show is always so fun when it’s about the zeitgeist and what we’re doing now.”

Murphy previously revealed that Paulson and another regular, Evan Peters, will star in the upcoming season. And before you can ask, no, Peters will not play Donald Trump. Paulson’s and Peters’ characters have yet to be revealed ― that is, if we’ll even get a glimpse of them before the season premiere. (FX was extremely stingy with details of Season 6, “Roanoke.”)

Although Clinton and Trump haven’t been cast yet, Murphy said that the team is about halfway through writing the script. It all starts on Election Day.

“It’s very scary, that night, for many people,” he said. “It’s fun.”

The new season will likely premiere in fall 2017.
