Rachel Bilson is coming back to TV in a big way with a new regular role on “Nashville.”

She joins the hit CMT drama in its fifth season following the death ... sorry, we’re still recovering ... of Connie Britton’s character, Rayna James, the network announced on Friday.

Bilson, along with “Empire” actress Kaitlin Doubleday, are set to head down South in the back half of the season to fill the Britton-sized hole left in the hearts of “Nashville” fans.

“We welcome Rachel and Kaitlin into our incredibly talented ensemble,” showrunner Marshall Herskovitz said in a statement. “We fondly anticipate the second half of the season filled with surprising twists and turns that make ‘Nashville’ so beloved by the fans.”

Those who know Bilson beyond her “OC” days, however, will remember that she hasn’t been off our TV screens for too long. The actress played Doctor Zoe Hart over four seasons on The CW’s “Hart of Dixie,” where she fired back at critics of the show with a surprisingly convincing rap video.
