Bill OβReilly is out at Fox News and Twitter has feelings.
The networkβs parent company, 21st Century Fox, announced on Wednesday that it was cutting its star loose. The decision followed sexual harassment accusations against OβReilly that have sparked protests and caused a mass exodus from advertisers.
βAfter a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill OβReilly have agreed that Bill OβReilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,β 21st Century Fox said in a statement.
OβReilly was due to return from a vacation on Monday, but instead will be replaced by Tucker Carlson.
The primetime hostβs boot from the network ends his two-decade reign as one of the most influential voices on television. And those who found his comments about race, gender and so, so, so many other topics offensive are experiencing a collective sigh of relief β especially on Twitter.
Here are the are the most poignant, funny and downright cathartic responses to his sacking:
Sad part is, Bill O'Reilly isn't being fired because he harassed women, it's because we weren't supposed to find out about it.

Bill O'Reilly has been offensively wrong on every issue of substance and importance for decades. The world is a better place for his absence
— John Iadarola (@johniadarola) April 19, 2017
How ironic...Bill O'Reilly is getting paid by Fox to go away from them after Fox paid any number of women to go away from Bill O'Reilly...

Cheer up Bill O'Reilly - there are still many companies that would love to hire you.
— John Fugelsang (@JohnFugelsang) April 19, 2017
I mean, no companies that employ women, but still.
To all the women who were harassed by Bill O'Reilly, I hope today brings you some small sense of justice. It's the very least you deserve.

Bill O'Reilly said Trayvon Martin died because he was wearing a hoodie and looked like a gangster. Today cable news is a better place.

It took at least five women speaking up, $13 mil in settlement money over the years and a NYT investigation to oust Bill O'Reilly.

Let Bill O'Reilly serve as an important reminder that when you spend your life putting bad into the world it will eventually find you
— Josh Hara (@yoyoha) April 19, 2017
I love how it took @FoxNews losing advertisers money to get rid of Bill O'Reilly and not his pattern of abusive behavior and racism.

Bill O'Reilly
Fox knew about Bill O'Reilly's behavior towards women for 15 years. He was held accountable by good journalism + women-led activism βοΈ
