GOP Lawmaker Flips Out When He Realizes He's Being Filmed

A Pennsylvania lawmaker got into a heated confrontation with an activist who was filming him during a speech on Tuesday.

State Sen. Scott Wagner (R), who is running for governor, had been addressing constituents at a country club in York, Pennsylvania, when he realized he was being filmed.

“Who are you with?” he asked the videographer, who said he was from the liberal super PAC American Bridge 21st Century.

“I’m going to confiscate your camera. ... You’re not a member here and you’re trespassing,” Wagner said, telling his audience that “you’re about to see your senator in action.”

Wagner then approached the activist and took the camera.

“You can’t take my camera,” the man said.

“I’m taking it,” Wagner replied. “Watch me take it.”

The confrontation continued as the activist began to use his phone to take more video while demanding his equipment be returned. In that footage, which American Bridge posted YouTube, Wagner appears to aggressively grab at the phone.

The activist accused Wagner of assaulting him and claimed his finger was bleeding. Wagner denied this, and the two men continued to argue for several minutes.

Police were called but no charges were filed against either party, according to philly.com.

“Scott Wagner’s actions today show how unhinged he truly is,” a spokesperson for American Bridge told the website. “If he can’t handle the pressure of the campaign, what makes him think he can handle leading the state?”

Wagner has defended his actions. He did not respond to a request for further comment.
