2 Killed After Plane Crashes On Approach To Runway In New Jersey

The Learjet 35 went down about a quarter-mile from Teterboro Airport in Bergen County.

A plane crashed into a building near Teterboro Airport in Bergen County, New Jersey, on Monday, multiple agencies confirmed.

According to police, two crew members were killed in the crash. No passengers were on board.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the plane crashed on Kero Road and Commerce Road in Carlstadt, New Jersey. According to an ABC report, multiple buildings caught fire due to the crash.

A spokesman for the airport confirmed that the facility is closed, but would not provide further detail.

According to an FAA statement to ABC News, the plane is a Learjet 35 that was en route from Philadelphia International Airport to Teeterboro Airport and crashed on approach to the runway about a quarter-mile from the airport.

The agency is on its way to the crash scene, the statement added.
