It's Official! Melania Trump Now Resides In The White House

First lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron, have officially moved into the White House, almost five months after President Trump was sworn into office.

She celebrated the moment on Twitter Sunday night while sharing a photo overlooking the Washington Monument. It included the hashtag #Movingday.

“Looking forward to the memories we’ll make in our new home!” she tweeted.

Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s communications director, confirmed the move on Twitter.

The first family was seen disembarking Marine One at the White House on Sunday. Joining them were Melania Trump’s parents, Viktor and Amalija Knav, who had been living with their daughter and grandson in Trump Tower in New York City, Fox News reported.

Though Melania’s parents are expected to increase their presence in Washington, USA Today reported, they are not expected to move in with the Trump family like former first lady Michelle Obama’s mother did.

Melania had stayed behind in New York City until 11-year-old Barron completed his academic school year. The president’s youngest child will attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, starting this fall, the school had previously announced.

The family’s selection breaks from previous presidential families, who chose Sidwell Friends School in Washington. Both of Barack Obama’s daughters, Sasha and Malia, attended the school, as well as Bill Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, and Richard Nixon’s daughters, Tricia and Julie.

The Obama family decided to stay in Washington upon leaving the White House so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, could finish at her school.

“Transferring someone in the middle of high school? Tough,” Obama said last year of the decision.

The Obamas last month purchased the Washington home they had been renting for $8.1 million. The property, situated in the historic Kalorama neighborhood, boasts nine bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms.
