Last night marked the first televised debate for Ohio Senate candidates Lee Fisher (D) and Rob Portman (R). The candidates sparred over Ohio's lackluster economy, the war and each other's political records.

Fisher, the lieutenant governor, opened the debate by saying Ohio voters had a "clear choice" between himself and Portman, a former Congressman and Bush trade representative and budget director. Portman lashed back by blaming Fisher for the 400,000 jobs Ohio has lost in the past four years.

Both candidates have traded jabs at each other in their ads and their campaigns so far, and this debate (the first of three) saw this come to a head.

Portman's team took to his Twitter account to comment on the debate, which aired from a Toledo area high school.
