Day One of New York Fashion Week (PHOTOS)

Nicholas K opened the week with a strong show -- the duo had come a long way since their gingham days. I'm quite excited to watch them grow. At Duckie Brown they showed blazers and a modern twist on the suit, with a clever eye on construction. W hotels helped Mara Hoffman show in the Box. She's going strong with a baby bump and some sweaters to die for. She stays true to her love of patterns and spot-on choice of fabric.

I had a blast at Luca Luca and spotted a model eating backstage! The show was wearable and chic. With my backstage pass, I got to see everything from make-up to the placing of the Luca Luca sign, model practice, then finally the show itself.

Amex does special events for their card members ( Platinum and Centurion) -- there'll be a dinner with Catherine Malandrino, and they'll get a chance to meet Jason Wu. I was lucky enough to attend the CFDA fashion show. Anna Wintour herself presided over the runway as the greatest hits of wearable fashion from Fashion Fund alums graced the catwalk -- members can buy the looks right off the catwalk.

Finally, it ended with Richie Rich. He opened with Tinsley Mortimer, closed with a glittering Johnny Weir and a sequined Jwoww.

This is my day in photos.

With fur trimming lapels and macabre sober colors that accentuated the play of light fabrics versus heavier accessories the collection served to play on the idea of today’s youth as a type of urban guerrilla fighter on the go.
