Today I popped into the Gucci showroom, where they were doing a press event for those who couldn't hop the pond to watch the shows in Europe. I was greeted by subdued music, a server who brought me much-needed coffee and the most amazing little nibbly things sculpted into Art Deco forms. Creative Director Frida Giannini embraced plush earth tones and sensual fabrics that elude comfort and success.

The handbags highlighted below were inspired by the Gucci archive and allude to a seventies sensibility. The runway collection is far more successful than their more accessible lines. Giannini embraced the strong woman, in her exploration of the Sepia spectrum. Many looks aim for the classic feel and are meant to withstand any trend. Dare I say it's staid and very little risk is taken.

Worth noting are the most amazing equestrian inspired boots with G formed clasp. They elude confidence and just the right amount of bravado. I fell in love with the accessories all over again and saw the craftsmanship in the piece.
