I don't even know where to start with this one, well actually let's start with the word "at." You can take a swipe at someone or you can slap someone, but to slap AT someone means doing this. Secondly, I don't think "His Slap At Dick Cheney" shows enough reverence for our commander in chief. When I worked at ABC News, we weren't even allowed to say "Bush" without "Pres." or "President" in front of it in our chyrons. The CNN folks did, however, use Cheney's full name. Thirdly, the guest they had on to discuss this "slap" was none other than the slapee's daughter, Liz "Torture Is Awesome" Cheney. Good job, guys. And lastly, per my dirty dirty mind, this chyron lends itself to some serious dick-slapping jokes.
By the way this "slap" was a reference to abuses from America...like maybe when we tortured those guys and took pictures of it? The eldest Cheney daughter said that with what Mitt Romney is derisively calling a "torture apology," Obama was pulling the rug out from under the people who "kept us safe."

CNN is Faux Light. Jack Cafferty, Rick Sanchez , and John Roberts are the only ones watchable.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I think Sanchez and Roberts are insufferable. Sanchez especially. The guy clearly had an unfortunate adolescence and now we're paying for it. So needy, so whiny, so smug....Insufferable.
I can only agree with you on 1 out of 3. Cafferty is top notch. Sanchez and Roberts thumbs down. Way down.
And then they wonder why their ratings are so low and going lower.
My TV just went back to CNN when my DVR show was over--don't know why it was on CNN but just an example of "The Best News Team on TV:"
Campbell Brown's "Three Question We All Want Answered"
1. President Obama extends a hand to the Muslim world, but did he make us look stronger or weaker?
2. Is affirmative action racism?
3. Does Bill Clinton still count?
And they wonder why their ratings are down. They are really more like WWF than FOX. Everything is a game--which side is up---which is down? The same actors taking their place and saying their lines with the ringmaster in on the show. They should be embarassed to call themselves a news channel.
CNN do not have reporters who are educated enough about the issues to report it correctly so they go into a soap opera mode. They never seem to use the word President in front of bama name always Obama. They themselves just can not accept that we have a black president and he just barely brough our country back from economic ruin.
I really think that the loss of using the proper "President" in front of President Obama, can easily be traced to the total lack of respect this country had for former President GW Bush.
It can take time to regain the use of the word President.
Remember, too, that Pres. Bush never called another head of state by their title, but always used their first name. He scored an F- on manners, especially when he tried to give Chancelor Angela Merkel a neck rub in front of the rest of the world leaders.
It only took about 6 years before the rest of the country had such a lack of respect that the proper title was dropped by most everyone. It's hard to respect someone who has no respect for themselve or others.
Why aren't people challenging these people? Liz, dick....???? Either they don't know their own facts, or they aspouse their views of our President ....Either way they aren't reporting the news in a fair and ballanced fashion...I am getting real tired of it...
Their job isn't really to give us fair and balance,... Their job is suppose to be, to inform us, and they aren't doing their jobs.
Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves !
CNN is not a trustworthy news organization. Full stop.
When I realized just how much CNN would NOT cover on Cheney and Bush and how they let people like Liz and the like come on and say whatever they want, attack Obama, defend their torture tactics etc... without once challenging them... They lost a viewer with me...
Not covering for example, the other day's news, when the ex PM of France wrote in his recently published book that prior to going into Iraq -- Bush was telling him that that they had to go into Iraq to fulfill bible prophecy, -- saying that so and so (evil biblical entities in the book of Revelations) were loose in the middle east and that we needed to go fight and help God win the war between evil and good so there will be 1,000 yrs of peace on earth... HELLO???? That is major news and was again ignored by CNN. However they have no problem sitting back letting pundits and the ex-VP's daughters come on and attack the new administration un-challenged... While covering for all that the Bush and Cheney admin did to us and other countries.
CNN has become a more subtle FOX news. I've stopped watching it, stopped going to their website... So have some of my friends just in the past week or two. At this rate, they'll be off the air soon... but not soon enough.
i quit watching cable news last week. don't learn anything when i watch.
except for rachael and keith on msnbc.
CNN tries to be impartial which renders them the punk kid in school that bullys take lunch money from. you just can't be so passive. you have to call BS what it is...but they anchors hardly even stand up and say "thats false..." if they did that more often then right wingers woud no go spewing ies with impunity
Whatever gave you the idea that CNN tries to be impartial? The reason I stopped watching them months ago was because of their blatant bias toward right wing guests, letting them tell outright lies and spouting propaganda without challenging them, while challenging practically every statement the left wing guests make.
Thank you. I knew the bushbaby had some such religious rationale for his atrocious actions. He really believed he was supposed to usher in the Apocalypse single-handed. Talk about religious extremism. Isn't it true that aggressive incompetents always project their own views/shortcomings upon their perceived enemies? I'm just sayin'.
LOL... It is true!
I would love to see more coverage about what was revealed in the PM's book on news sites, news networks... I can't imagine what Cheney would do if it started coming up during his appearances.
I stooped watching them too, when they first started giving Cheney a forum.
HP manages to give me 4 to 7 reasons not to repair my telly or buy a new telly. Thank you, HP.
An awful lot of people who are really bad for this country have lately been getting an awful lot of television time.
I've also noted a large change in news behavior since President Obama took office. We hear way too much "Obama this" and "Obama that", and a lot less "President Obama", than "President Bush, President Bush, President Bush".
People and press in this country used to show automatic respect for the President and The Office of the Presidency. Now, much, much less respect and so, we demean our own country. It's sad, it's terrible, it's sad.
I don't know about other supporters of President Obama. But I find myself quite consciously and deliberately addressing the President and the First Lady as such.
I must also admit that I did not do the same when referring to Mr. and Mrs. Bush. Or with Mr. Cheney.
So, given the popularity of President vs that of the ex-President, I suspect that most people are addressing him more respectfully. However, Fox News and similarly bent media are of course deliberately being dis-respectful. And even sympathetic talking heads are likely to be careless, or want to seem overly familiar. Since they treat political reporting like sports reporting now, they talk about politicians the way they talk about sports people.
The good news: I would take any bet that neither the President nor the First Lady care. I have a sneaking suspicion that they've long been inured to the rantings of "trash." And I'll leave that one right there.
I do to. Especially when I'm speaking to people I know are Republicans or not President Obama supporters.
i don't watch. i haven't watched. i refuse to purchase cable tv. i won't give anymore money to the media.
Ted Turner why did you have to sell CNN?!
On CNN radio news feed used by Green960, I heard one of their reporters covering the speech pull out the Barack "Hussein" Obama line, but I don't recall if she even preceded that with "President." At first I thought it was Fox News for a moment.
Lou Dobbs is enough to keep me from watching CNN. I used to trust CNN for unbiased reporting the everything news of the day. Now they are showing their corporate colors and trashing our President. They give more respect to Bush and Cheney than our own sitting president who actually won his election.
I get agitated whenever I accidentally hear or see Lou Dobbs.
Yet another example of why i stopped watching CNN.
You mean FoxNews2.
Yes, but didn't you know? Neilson paid subscription ratings service says that Fox News is TOPS!! It is the most popular among the 2 percent of Americans that bother to tune into that vaste wasteland called television... says Neilson... a service that puts boxes into willing subjects homes and electronically keeps track of what is on their televisions. Of course it is about as accurate and scientific as reading tea leaves.... but don't tell the Faux news viewers that, they feel all sorts of self righteous exaltation that their propaganda network is the one that most of them watch. So, CNN is just trying to compete for the fans by becoming Faux news 2. What I am not understanding is that if 2 percent of Americans are sitting around watching the garbage that is put on the box... then that means that 98% of Americans are not, and are being ignored in this big popularity contest. If 98% of the people of a country are ignoring something... doesn't that pretty much make it irrelevant in reality?
And did you know that all red-neck, hate-filled, psychotic neocons needing to gain outside support for their fears and intolerences watch FOx News exclusively. While the rest of the intelligent world are reading newspapers and magazines, watching Discovery Channel, ESPN, Local News as well as Jon Stewart. We might also be doing charity work, cleaning up a local park or coaching kids in sports.
The point is, free thinking progressives have infinite outlets for their creative and intellectual needs, while NeoCons have Rush and Fox.
You forgot Sean Hannity and Glen Beck. Two gracious and charming fellows. (Yes that was sarcasm.)
