Sauce might seem like the simplest part of a dish, but any true home cook knows it is often the hardest part to master. Getting the sauce to be the right consistency, have enough flavor, and still not overwhelm the dish is a delicate balance.

But chef Christian Ramos of Virginia's has a few tricks up his sleeve and luckily he is willing to share them. From which sauce is best for beginners to how to save an over-reduced batch, he has us covered. And then as a bonus he shares one of his most timeless recipes: gnocchi with a parmesan butter sauce.
