It's not every day that you see an Iron Chef taking orders, but no matter how important any of us become we still always answer to mom.
In our series Inspired Recipes, we talk to chefs about the people who made them want to cook and this week we have Food Network favorite Alex Guarnaschelli. She discusses her early meals and then explains how chefs like Daniel Boulud and Bobby Flay became her inspirations. But the real fun starts when her mom joins in. We learn how to make her mother's "carrot-heavy" marinara sauce and luckily we have the inspiration herself on hand to ensure that Guarnaschelli cooks it properly.
