I'm sure you know someone who is extremely self-motivated. They're constantly working on projects, networking, or doing something to propel them closer to their dream. I often talk to my friends about their dreams and goals, and during my conversations I've noticed a few things. Some of my friends tended to be more motivated and had a clearer vision of where they wanted to be in a few years. My other friends had dreams, but weren't actively acting on them nor were they really sure about what they were passionate about. Why are some people more self-motivated than others, and what can we learn from them to encourage ourselves and other people? Let's look at the root of motivation. Where does it comes from? It comes from...

1. Having something to lose
It could be respect, pride, money, or dreams (the fear of not accomplishing their dream is scarier than not trying).

2. Desire
Wanting more for themselves and their family.

3. Urgency
They want success as soon as possible, and operate with urgency since every day counts.

Those three ingredients can be combined to foster motivation in anyone; it's not reserved for a certain type of person.

It's important to discover what motivates you, since motivation is the force that drives our actions. Most people don't use their time wisely. Your priorities should not be coming home, watching netflix, and then going bed. You are wasting precious time that could be put towards your dream. Envision yourself years from now and what the happiest, most fulfilled version of yourself would look like. Now make a plan to go achieve that.
