It's always exciting to discover an artist whose star is rising and who you think will be the next big thing. Well, I think I've made that kind of discovery with Scooter LaForge. Scooter's art was first introduced to me by a friend of mine, Paulo Gazelle, and as I learned more and more about his work, I became really enthralled. I had to do an interview with him! He agreed, and so I recently met with him at his Tribeca studio to shoot this video. His art aside, Scooter is one of the sweetest people I've had a chance to meet in NY!

Scooter is a formally trained painter, holding a painting degree from the University of Arizona and having subsequently won a fellowship to study at the Cooper Union School of Art. His style is pop art meets abstract expressionism, and his work incorporates an eclectic range of subject matter, from portraits and landscapes to iconic cartoon characters. His art has been striking chords with many... this is clear as his work has been displayed throughout New York City, including at Exit Art, Wooster Projects, Feature Inc and Bucheon. He also has a permanent installation at Barneys flagship store and recently collaborated with Nicki Minaj.

Fashion plays a big part in his work as well. In fact, he started his own clothing and underwear lines that are sold exclusively in the East Village store of Patricia Field, the stylist for Sex and the City.

I hope you enjoy this video.
