This Is the One Question You Need to Ask Yourself

I hope that with each of the days you have, you'll chase your goals, your dreams, your fire. That you'll act with that urgency of life in mind. Life is short. Don't count the days.

30,000 days is just over 82 years. That means, if you're lucky, you get to live 30,000 days.

I had never thought about how many days make up a lifetime until a family friend was told that she had only so many days left. As a singer/songwriter, I started to explore the questions of life and why we are here. Will we make all of our days matter? During this period, I wrote a song called "30,000 Days," but I also wanted to start a conversation.

With one of my 30,000 Days, I went out into New York City to ask people this question: What will you do with your 30,000 Days? I brought white poster board and markers, and had everyone write their answers and share it on camera for my music video. It was an incredible experience. Some people knew their answer immediately but most people had to think about it. Once people came up with their answer, their faces lit up or were overwhelmed with love. I discovered that when people are given a blank canvas they dream big. They dream with their hearts and with their wildest imaginations. They want to travel the world and save the world. They want to build families and reunite families. They want to live, succeed and take risks.

Most of us only think about the urgency of life when faced with a time limit. My hope is to inspire people to live their dreams now because later may never come.

So ask yourself... what are you meant to do while you're alive? What do you really want to do? Are you fulfilling your destiny, your dreams, your purpose? Or are you simply living each day on auto-pilot? Or at a job you hate? Are you sad, lost or afraid?

Personally, I waver between all of the above, but I'm constantly searching for more aliveness and inspiration, more wood for my fire. I hope that with each of the days you have, you'll chase your goals, your dreams, your fire. That you'll act with that urgency of life in mind. Life is short. Don't count the days. Make the days count.

By the way, I realized what I want to do with my 30,000 Days: Inspire. Love. Be bold.
