How My Football Season Started...

Everyone's NFL season starts differently. For some, football never ends (I envy your stability). For others, the first day of training camp signals the start of football season. Then, there are those who mark the beginning of the best time of year with preseason. And, for the more fragile (or calm), nothing officially begins until Week 1 kicks off.

My NFL 2012-13 has officially started. It happened unexpectedly and out of nowhere. It caught me off guard -- I was far from prepared. See, I've been in recovery mode since February (really, December) and figured there'd be some decisive, breakthrough-esque moment that told me I was mentally, emotionally and physically prepared for another five months of Buffalo Bills football. It didn't happen that way, though. All it took was a morning text message telling me ticket pre-sale for text subscribers began at 9 a.m. today (July 9) to yank me back in.

I've already spent the morning stressed out of my mind, which confirms that I'm in total football mode. My mind was so spastic that I didn't even hear my usual work drive playlist. I've been thinking nonstop since I opened that 8:35 a.m. text. I can't buy tickets at work, so I have to wait until I get home. What if all the tickets are gone? What if I can't get the games I want? Should I try for the Thursday night game against Miami? I've been lusting after a primetime game forever, but what if I can't find someone to go with? If I do go, it'll probably be cold; where are my Bills earmuffs? Or, should I wear my parents' Bills headband from the '80s? Speaking of which, where is that? Should I go to the home opener? And those are only my ticket-related thoughts.

From now on, I'll start posting more regular Bills blogs. You're welcome. I have a ton of reading to catch up on about our draft picks, the status of current players and how the rest of the league is shaping up. I eliminated everything NFL from my life right after the Super Bowl to A) prevent a massive breakdown B) give my job a little more attention (ideally, my employer would give me football season off or at least every Monday through Wednesday). I even stopped ripping days off my Buffalo Bills desk calendar (it's stuck on Friday, May 11) because each trivia or question made me die a little inside. Feel free to tweet me at @lysssie or leave a comment below to share your thoughts. I promise, I do want to hear them! And, if there's a blog post you'd like to see, let me know!

GO BILLS!!!
