Mitt's CPAC Moronic Moment

Mitt Romney was surely running low on red meat to throw into the mosh pit of C(onversative) PACers yesterday when he reached deep into his Coleman cooler and threw the following gem of a meatball into the claws of his voracious right wing audience:

" Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror."

Oh? Pray tell, Mr. Romney, what could you have possibly meant by that?

Did you mean that the longer you stayed in the race you would be making it easier for those dreaded Democratic Party white flag wavers to win against a fractured, demoralized GOP? The Democratic Party you allege would surrender to Al Qaeda? The Democratic Party you allege would refuse to fight in Afghanistan? The Democratic Party you allege would hightail it out of Iraq?

Sorry Mr. Romney. This conservative pig won't fly. You were forced out of this race because the voters rejected your expedient conversion to conservatism. Calling into question the patriotism of Democrats is the best reason I can think of to thank Republican voters for giving you the boot.

Memo to Mitt: those Bush neo and mainstream conservatives whom you so eloquently velcroized yourself to today are running a US government that:

1. Has not captured Osama Bin Laden or his chief deputy in over 7 years.

2. Has jeopardized Afghanistan's struggle for security and democracy by diverting troops and intelligence operations to Iraq.

3. Has failed to prevent Al Qaeda from rebuilding and becoming a direct threat to the U.S. homeland (Mitt, go read CIA McConnell's Congressional testimony this week) .

4. Has failed to come up with any meaningful policy to neutralize the spread of Islamic extremism or the proliferation of terror cells around the world.

5. Has cost this nation thousands of lives and billions of taxpayers dollars by misleading this nation into war and making an unmitigated mess of its occupation of Iraq.

6. Has no effective policy to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

Now, that's a core conversative's record of anti-terrorism achievement you can be proud of Mr. Romney.

Thank god Mitt is a quitter as well as dense and gullible. He spent $35 million dollars to have his hat unceremoniously handed to him.
The sad thing is, he is beating up on the democrats who would be far more accepting of him and his weird religion.
Then he panders to the right wing neo con christian bigot fluff nutters who kicked his ass out of the party.
Like many people who have been born into wealth, they are incredible out of sinc with reality.

Ambassador Ginsberg,

You COULD have hit Mr. Romney in the head with a cast-iron skillet, but your words have a deeper, harder, and more appropriate impact.

Thank you!

Who will take apart the Nuclear Bomb? Can't we see that telling Iran they can't have it while we've got 10,000 logs in our eyes, isn't the way to Peace?
Someday swords will be beat into plowshares by feeding people, and then Nations will never train for WAR again. Micah 4 and Isaiah 2.

You not only have that entirely correct, it seems to me, but take it one step further in a logical tangential extension of thought: Who really gives a dead rodent's behind if Iran does get a nuclear device - the Iranians are not dumb enough to use it against anyone, and that includes our little bastion of democracy, Israel, which, with immunity can conduct state terrorism against Palestinians, and bulldoze Palestinians' homes at 3 a.m., presumably having cast a vote in the PM's cabinet meeting to do so. The Iranians know fully well what would happen to them if they were to strike first. I believe, however, that in the event of an Israeli attack on Iran a nuclear device could and would be delivered accurately on Tel Aviv. And that is what this is all about. The Israelis want a free hand to do what ever they want to permanently enlarge Israel, at every one else's expense. Where is our outrage? It's underneath the mountains of AIPAC monies given to the political whores who inhabit Congress.

I heard Romney's swan-song on the radio. It was instructive to hear him without the coifed chissled visage to distract. On audio only he comes across dumber than George, if that is possible.

His egregious pandering to the most base instincts of the rabid right was a clear reflection of his political amorality. The tortured logic of his whole campaign has been 'my opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right'.

He was stupifyingly dumbfounding with this last speech. Where George can't pronounce words, Romney can't construct a sentence. Its incredible that this man's mind cannot make sense of the simplest things. His reasoning is without reason, is this Mornoni-simplified or what?

After listening to him, you have to conclude he is on some kind of drug or substance, but Mormons supposedly don't "use".

He has to have some kind of brain damage or else some drug is altering his mind.

The neocon talking points must come out each week with emphasis on endlessly repeating them no matter where or on what occasion or with what justification...just throw them into a sentence anywhere anytime...make a FOOL of yourself, but get those oinks out there.
Absolutely astounding!

Actually what's diabling his mind is Consevative "philosophy" which boils down to, "Once the leader has spoken, his words are the standard for truth." There are corollaries, such as, "If facts are in conflict with ideology, then the facts must be abandoned and ignored." Conservatism is nothing but a mind-fuck.

i'll answer your silly question..the war on terror was and remains in afghanistan..bush diverted money and troops from the real central front of terrorism to secure the oil rights in iraq..why the war there makes no sense!..saddamm had nothing to do with 9/11..though the revisionists want you to forget that very basic fact..

Ayup! And even Bush admitted it once, in an uncharacteristically honest moment when caught off guard by a direct question.

Q: So What does Iraq have to do with 9/11?

Bush's A: "NOTHING".

THAT should be played on a continuous loop for the next year!

" Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror."

Mr. Ambassador,

Ironically, there is a lot substance to this message, in so far as it was exactly this kind of moronic logic that feared many Democrats into voting for the War in Iraq, and for other anti-Constitutional measures.

Arguing with Mitt Romney is futile and pointless and going down the wrong road, your argument should be with your Democratic Establishment and their mindset, not with Mitt Romney.

Romney was always so bad I kept thinking he was really Chevy Chase doing a parody. this last speech was icing. Cant you people on the right demonstrate some common sense and common decency. Right wing points now sound so like a Eddie Haskell routine it is embarassing. If there are aliens listening they might decide we all need to be vaporized if they hear a speech like Romneys. "What virus have the earthlings caught. Better make sure it cannot spread."

Ambassador:

I have a lot of respect for you, but I have a lot of differences on your post.

It is time for the Democrats to stop running against Bush and to run against McCain. You aren't running against Mitt, either.

I never liked Romney(Running in Liberal Massachusetts he was pro-abortion, running for Republican Presidential candidate, he was against abortion).

Bush's failures do not change Obama's desire to pull all of the troops out of Iraq as soon as he is elected. That surely won't get any of the failures you list corrected.

Frankly, it is time the suicidal Jihadists fear us instead of thinking we are easy targets.

They are already willing to die. You just don't get that, do you? Fear and intimidation don't work. Ask the Israelis. The caveman mentality of the pro-occupation crowd is not only a stain on America, it's a stain on the human race. Since McCain will more of the same as Bush, except even more hawkish, it is perfectly legitimate to run on the record of the current Republican President. If McCain gets up and disavows Bush on every single issue, then we can talk about leaving Bush out of the equation. Lastly, I thought this was a government for the people by the people. If the voters in the United Sates elect a candidate who will end the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq, then so be it. That's one of the things that pisses me off about certain conservatives (and liberals) the most, to wit, they think they know better than "the rest of us." Oh, and Jon Stewart's retort to Mitt's comment about surrender was perfect, "fuck you." That's directed at Mitt, not you JanP.

What people forget is that the Government is sovereign, as a whole. Which means that whomever is in office, or whatever the party ruling may be, if they institute the draft...well you should and in most cases have to go. If they make the drinking of alcohol illegal, well...you get arrested if you make, import, or consume alcohol.
Luckily, we had some people in our early years of government who understood that the powers needed to be curtailed or the government would get out of hand. And whether you take the historical, textual, structural, prudential, or doctinal argument as an approach to diciphering the meaning of the constitution, you are still left with the absolute result, that the government was established to be fully empowered to accomplish what is stated in the preamble and NOT a government of limited power. Sure, we can dismiss by election, or impeachment, and appeal our rights to the courts, but in the end, we have a government to answer to, more often than it is forced to answer to us.
Unfortunately, these days, people take their enumnerated freedoms, whether 'by and for the people' or not, and expand them individually to a sense of entitlement that surely extends beyond our founding father's, or even Lincoln's visions. Some even expand their personal freedoms and encroach on the freedom of others with no thought, and still others, into the reaches of criminality.
Bottom line, look at where we have ended up with our misguided views of freedom without responsibility. Very few serve our country anymore, especially not the "college after high school" lemings, and our voter turnout is embarrasing. Patriotism is on life support and celebrities and atheletes are our role models, until our desire to encroach upon thier individual liberties takes their lives. Turn that around on a individual basis, and then turn your sites to the body politic.

Well said. And for those conservatvies who will keep us indefinitely in Iraq, here is a quick reality check. BBC/ABC Poll, Sept 07: 70% of Iraqis say the surge has made matters worse in Iraq, 85% have "little or no confidence" in U.S. and U.K troops, 47% want an immediate U.S. withdrawal (up from 35% in February), and 57% say it is okay to attack coalition forces. The conservative disconnect from reality is palpable. And by the way, I wonder what convicted bank swindler/con-man Ahmad Chalabi, the Bush Administrations man to run Iraq at one time, is doing these days. Probably having wine & cheese with the Cheneys.

Right, because after almost 5 years of occupation, 5 months later, those numbers are likely to be so far off that the point is moot. Or not. Questioning the date of the polls is your best retort?

Gee, that was a whole 5 months ago. 57% of Iraqis said it is okay to kill our guys. Maybe it went down to 50% today, who knows. The point is we are not welcome and they do not see us as "liberators." And polls arent reality? What is , the constant spin and deception coming out of this Administration? And where is your boy Chalabi, anyone know?

Mitt Romney is a quitter after all. One round and he is out! If McCain made him throw in the towel so fast, how long do you think he would last fighting al-Qaida?

What a clown - Maybe his boys can find something useful to do now, instead of wasting their time and Mitt's money.

He was a peace-loving man, and he caused more war and death than any warmonger.

Beware those who offer 'peace in our time' by capitulating to terrorists and dictators.

Your comparison is truly idiotic. Those that want the end to an illegal occupation in Iraq with Chamberlain giving the Sudetenland to the Nazi's to avoid another world war. In Iraq we are mainly fighting people that want us out of their country.
Don't be an idiot...both Afghanistan and Iraq is about the geopolitics of energy. Terrorism is just byproduct of our occupation of the middle east. The war on Terror is complete fraud.
