What if I told you that you already are a famous celebrity?

You would tell me that it isn't true, because you aren't on the cover of O magazine, your book hasn't been published by Random House, and the music you play isn't on the radio.

Well, that may be true, but these days, who even listens to the radio? And why does any of that really matter? We have the internet, we are all connected, there are so many of us that we can create little pockets of what we call 'fame.' What is this urge inside of a lot of people (me included) to be wildly famous and known by millions? Where does the longing come from?

I really had to take a look at this, so I'm writing this piece for you. And for me.

Fame is defined as being known by many. And celebrity is defined as famous, the state of being celebrated. So technically, we are all famous celebrities, yes? Kind of? Maybe? We are all known by lots of people, and hopefully celebrated by the ones we love.

So what is this need for glossy magazines and notoriety? AHHH?!?!? I don't know! Two thoughts come to mind:

1. It's an obsession brought on by a society that breeds 'not enough-ism.'
2. It's natural!

Let's let go of #1, because that's a tired, old story and I'm over it. So, let's work with #2. My dear friend, poet Rachel Kann, did a prayer with me last night and reminded me to hold on to my dreams and to live in 'sweet anticipation.' Dream big, she said, and who knows what will be?

The urge to be 'famous' is actually a good thing when we zoom out and recognize it as LIFE working through and as us. The artist wishes for fame as the sunflower reaches for the sun. It's nature, it's in the very fiber of our being to reach for more and strive! It's the natural human hunger.

The feeling tone we create that says we'll never attain our dreams stalls us in our tracks and makes us stop what we're doing, feel sorry for ourselves and give up!

Never never never never give up!

When I was seeking quotes on being famous, just about every single quote I found from a 'legit' celebrity was negative. Here's a few:

"I do not like being famous. I like being normal." - Vince Gill

"Being famous is just like being in high school." - Courtney Love

"Being famous is not something that would make me feel successful." - William Hurt

The truth is that once a large amount of fame is achieved, then what? Then more more more! What's the next thing to create, to do, to be to have? It's never enough, unless NOW is enough.

So perhaps it's not fame that we are seeking. Maybe it's to be seen, be heard, and be celebrated. And this is happening, today. And yes, we can hold on to our dreams of bigness and not be afraid to continue on the path the our creative spirit carves out. But it's about the journey, not a destination. Right?!

Doctor Ken Gordon once said in a talk I absolutely loved, that it's not really crowded on the growing edge. So if you are a light-bringer, a consciousness shifter (which I believe I am, and maybe you are too), you are NOT the mainstream. You are on the growing, leading edge.

And so, let's know together, right now, with a spiritual mind treatment that we are fabulous, enough, and right here, right now we are on the growing edge.

Here is our prayer:

Right here, right now, I know that all is perfect. Fabulous, effervescent energy flows through me, to me, and as me, as the love of the ALLNESS that is back of all life. Creative Source is guiding my every move, filling me with a confidence and a kindness towards myself and all others. The illusion that I am not enough fades away, and I am filled with gratitude for all that I have right here and right now. Everywhere I look I see the light and the goodness in the world, and I live in a state of pure love, giving and receiving love with everything I do. Thanking Spirit and Universe for this conscious awareness, I say thank you thank you thank you. Amen and so it is.

And so, let us all together lift each other up, encourage each other to never give up on our dreams, but at the same time to stay in the moment and stay grateful for what IS. There is nothing to attain, except right here right now, a peace, a joy, and an acceptance of the glory of now.

And, of course, a song from me! This is "Keep On," from my CD, Flying on Faith. KEEP ON!
