BAGHDAD (The Borowitz Report) - In what may be a turning point for democracy in the war-torn nation, Iraqis turned out in larger than expected numbers on Sunday to cast their votes for Sandra Bullock.

Iraqis' willingness to brave bombs, mortar fire and other forms of intimidation was testament to Ms. Bullock's enduring popularity here, where she beat out a roster of candidates from the major political parties.

"I do not care if she is a Sunni or a Shiite," said Yusuf Makiya, 37, who cast his vote in Falujah. "She is just so darn likable."
