News Corporation chief Rupert Murdoch today announced a bold new Internet strategy for his company, saying that News Corp. would begin charging users for news on its sites "if we ever publish any."
Murdoch stressed that readers would only be charged for "actual news" that appears on his sites, "which means that 99% of the content will remain free."
The media titan dismissed rumors that News Corp. is considering charging users for access to hearsay and fabrications on its online sites: "We are fully aware that no one could afford that." More here.
