On Wednesday night, like most liberals who enjoy hurting themselves for fun, I tuned into coverage of the Republican National Convention. We always make jokes about the lack of minorities in the crowd, how pale the audience is, how sunscreen sales shoot up in whatever town hosts the RNC. But I was struck by something odd.
First, I watch New Mexico Republican Gov. Susana Martinez's speech. She kills it. Next, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's speech. House status: Brought down.

Both speeches were easily the best of the night.
Then comes Paul Ryan. And as the white balance-adjusted cameras pan out over the SPF100 demographic, it hits me...
