It was the first time since she won her Republican primary over a month ago that Nevada Senate candidate and Tea Party darling Sharron Angle invited the press to one of her speeches. At a local business Thursday she spoke for three minutes about her pledge to repeal the estate tax. She then stepped back and stood in line with workers as a moderator announced she'd be taking questions from the press. At that point she did a military-worthy 90-degree turn and bolted out the door like a fleeing shoplifter as reporters chased her down asking why she's refusing to answer questions....at her own press conference! She hurriedly got in her SUV ("S" for "Safety") and sped off. Not very Senate-worthy behavior.

Let's face it: Sharron Angle is a right-wing fringe candidate who seeks to abolish the Education Department, the EPA, Social Security, Medicare, seeks to repeal health care reform, supports Wall Street excess, called the $20-billion BP fund a "slush fund," claims unemployment benefits deter people from looking for work, and scoffs at global warming. These Tea Party radicals like Angle and Kentucky's Rand Paul lack any real political experience, and for some strange reason salivate at the chance of joining a government they don't believe in. They're all about freedom and freedom of speech, yet refuse to follow conventional practices like being accountable to a free press and a voting public.

It's hard to imagine how Angle can recover from this sort of constant public humiliation. Outside of her teeny Tea Party constituency, she's giving mainstream Republicans and independents absolutely no reason to vote for her. Her repeated refusal to face the media and answer questions about her positions demonstrates a supreme lack of confidence and a mortal fear of public embarrassment. Neither of which are qualities we want in a U.S. Senator. To Reid, she's the gift that keeps on giving, and his best asset in his campaign for re-election.

Well you weren't kidding, she bolted from that like a frightened horse. I don't understand why.

Well, remember that the Republican powers-that-be have said Angle's campaign is a "work in progress." They haven't advanced to the meet-the-press part yet. I think the issue here is different from that with Palin. Palin appears to have no interest in boning up on background and answers; Angle HAS answers they don't want made public.

how's this for an idea...maybe Angle is making a point... that she's not gonna have to do much at all to get Reid fired... he'll probably lose on his own account seeing that he is second most powerful politician in the country and the state he represents is one of the only states in the union that is still losing jobs at a rapid pace...

Oh please. Nobody, but nobody can possibly feel this woman should be in the United States Senate. Senator Reid will win his re-election. Nevada and the rest of this country needs a Senator that is trying to rebuild this country. Not continue to dismantle it. The GOP is just out of step with the American people. We are not all radical id.iots. They have taken all the spots at that table.

"maybe Angle is making a point... that she's not gonna have to do much at all to get Reid fired... he'll probably lose on his own account"

hahah making a point by running from reporters, I like that. She's a genius, for sure!

This just keeps getting funnier all the time.

And this is the candidate that the Tea Party said they were going to fire Harry Reid with.

She can run but she can't hide. Estate tax and Angle:

"Reid spokesman Jon Summers called Angle a hypocrite for advocating a repeal of the tax and not offering a way to pay for it. “You know what her approach would also do? It would add about $500 billion to the deficit,” Summers said. “Which is a pretty high price to pay just to give Paris Hilton a tax cut.” "- from

These days it seems like every politician is vying for their slice of media attention. Angle is the antithesis of our "new media". Even Fox News seems to be throwing in the towel. These videos are what fuel The Daily Show and Colbert and they don't even have to be edited.

This is a Sarah Palin move.

She has either gotten advice from Palin, or just learned from the master. Never, never talk to anyone but your devoted, and never taken questions unless you get them in advance.

Will there be a debate between Reid and Angle? Now THAT would be worth watching!

Here in Reno, Nevada, you are aware of a few things that if known, would keep most tourists down in Vegas, if not out of Nevada all together....

Growing up here; you are aware that Las Vegas rules the political parties, through all the money thrown into the States coffers from the tourism there.

Also; If you were go out to the interior on this State, It is a landscape that would make the visitor perceive the Southern States as being Educated and Liberal.

These are for the most part Ms. Angles people, FAUX television watchers, with remedial education, and having no exposure to the greater world other than what has been brought into their rooms by the T.V., or some Fascist belief instilled from some grunt duty in our "Liberal" military.

I wish there were a camera that showed the rest of the participant's faces after everyone rushed after Sharron: I'm sure someone was anxious to answer some questions.
