Why Has Lady GaGa Posed Topless for a Q Magazine Cover?

While I have never posed nude myself, I certainly enjoy such photos like any other red blooded male (and am programmed to do so according to scientists), and musicians are within their rights to present themselves as they see fit.

Lady GaGa has posed topless for a photoshoot in UK rock bible Q magazine. You can see the pictures here. Go on. You know you want to.

She is not the first female pop star to do so ( and she's done it before for V magazine last year.)

Lily Allen posed topless for Q a year ago. Hot new singer Natasha Khan, aka Bat for Lashes, posed topless last year on the cover of her single Daniel. Beth Ditto posed naked for both NME and Love magazine. Then there's Rihanna, Madonna, Courtney Love... all have disrobed at one time or another.

While I have never posed nude myself, I certainly enjoy such photos like any other red blooded male (and am programmed to do so according to scientists), and musicians are within their rights to present themselves as they see fit.

But why do so many successful female stars they choose to go topless again and again?

Is it empowering? Enlightening? Or do they need the money?

Lady GaGa's reason may be unlike any other. Look closely at the shots you will notice a fake phallus tucked into her pants, a reference to the online rumours that she is a man.

These shots will certainly put paid to that idea.
