Exclusive: YouTube Blocked in Iran: Traffic Down 90 Percent

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Earlier this week, authorities in Iran blocked YouTube along with several other sites and mobile networks. For YouTube, the crackdown has been highly effective, with traffic dropping by 90 percent.

This number is from internal log files provided to Beet.TV by a YouTube spokesperson.

I've pasted here a video of citizen video of someone apparently being beaten in the front yard by police officers. This was shot from above, presumably in Tehran. The video was not uploaded from Iran, but by a YouTube member in the United States.

Here is the unofficial Mousavi channel on YouTube. It is the 30th most watched channel this week. Here is an index of Iran protest videos on YouTube.

For every site they block, Iranians should make another site.
The result: The government will be forced to shut electricity down.
That is when they will see the true face of the revolution, and no way to turn it back.
