The history of using music as a tool for social justice and empowerment has a rich and deep place in history. Recently the issue of hunger was the subject of two music events when legendary singer Tony Bennett staged a concert in Los Angeles to benefit AARP's drive to end hunger and the Hard Rock Café launched a global campaign to support the fight against childhood hunger. Now in the mode of these past successes to help raise money and awareness for a worthy cause comes "Singin 4R Sisters."

On November 2nd at 6 pm, an amazing group of talented women will come together to sing at a benefit concert for the Lower Eastside Girls Club of NYC. The event which is promoted by Street Cred Music Blog will be held at New York City's popular Rockwood Music Hall and will feature an amazing assortment of musicians.

The Girls Club provides a place where girls and young women 8-23 can grow, learn, have fun, and develop confidence in themselves and their ability to make a difference in the world. By delivering strong arts, literacy, science, health and leadership programs it provides girls with the vision to plan -- and the tools to build -- their future. All of the Girls Club programs develop environmental, entrepreneurial and ethical leadership in the girls they serve. The Girls Club is in the final stages of a $20 million capital campaign to build New York City's first and only Girls Club facility -- a LEED Gold state-of-the-art 'green' building that will serve hundreds of economically disadvantaged girls and their families.

The artists involved in this event know that the Girls Club offers its participants an array of programs which provide young women with the tools and confidence to build their future and contribute to society. "These wonderful ladies all said yes to this project without hesitation and donating their time for this event," said promoter Pete Carma. Set to perform will be Nadia Ackerman, Bekka Lindstrom, Emily Wolf, Tammy Scheffer, Clara Lofaro, Gio Moretti, Eleanor Dubinsky, Amy Regan, Yula Beeri, Kalen and Kat Calvosa.

This will be the biggest and best show on the Manhattan club scene this year with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Girls Club. It will feature as a diverse musical array as you will ever see, which will include Jazz, Pop, Rock, Indie, Punk and International genres. These include some of the best musicians on the East Coast. As songstress Clara Lofaro put it, "I can't wait to share the stage with such powerfully talented women and empower some more. I am so happy!" Nadia Ackerman added, "This is going to be a great night, really looking forward to it!"

Thanks to Ken Rockwood and Kendall Nash, owners of the Rockwood Music Hall located at 196 Allen Street in NYC. The evening will include a chance to win the CDs of the artists and a drawing for gift certificates to New York establishments, included free with your ticket purchase.

Tickets, which are only $20 dollars each, and more info can be found at the Lower East Side Girl Clubs site.
