Ari's Frustration of the Day

Exactly what kind of subliminal message was the president trying to send by introducing Alito not in the Oval Office, as he did with Harriet Miers, but, a part of the White House no one has seen before?

I’m frustrated. The day after President Bush honored Rosa Parks by placing a wreath by her casket and ordering that flags be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, he turns around and dishonors her memory by picking as his “do-over” Supreme Court nominee a man with a judicial history of undercutting civil rights and women’s rights. Parks won’t be buried until Wednesday but I can imagine she’s already spinning in her grave.

I’m also confused. Exactly what kind of subliminal message was the president trying to send by introducing Alito not in the Oval Office, as he did with Harriet Miers, but in the Cross Hall, a part of the White House no one has seen before? “This is totally different”? Well, we didn’t need a change of location to clue us in, Mr. President. “Scalito’s” abysmal and regressive track record did that.
