Hillary Clinton launched a new YouTube video asking Americans for input on one of the "most important questions" of her campaign. She is calling on voters to choose her official campaign theme song.
The jocular video aims to show Hillary's lighter side, joking about the contest and promising not to sing in public. The official choices include safe standards like Shania Twain and U2's "A Beautiful Day," which was the Kerry campaign's song in 2004, along with edgier acts like the antiwar Dixie Chicks. Their lead singer famously declared "we do not want this [Iraq] war" back in March 2003 -- when most of the Democratic candidates were supporting it -- prompting boycotts and death threats.
U2 is the only group to net two slots, which might be because the campaign's Communications Director, Howard Wolfson, is a big fan. When he's not speaking for the New York Senator, Wolfson is an occassional music blogger, posting his favorite albums of the year to a personal blog, AppleBites. U2's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" made his 2004 list.
Hillary is also accepting 'write in candidates.' The first suggestion posted on YouTube is Beyonce's "Irreplaceable."
