The conventional wisdom is that the race for the race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination will come down to two people: Hillary and Non-Hillary.
Since Hillary has the Hillary slot pretty much locked up, the jockeying for Non-Hillary has already started. Hard to say who it will be, but Mickey Kaus makes a good case that it won't be Joe Biden.
However big the base is that wants a war-equivocating, triangulating, pandering candidate, Hillary's got that sewn up. It makes sense that Non-Hillary is going to have to be...well...Non-Hillary. Which isn't good for Joe.
