There is one reason I'm glad the social boot camp of Oscar Week is over: the end of standing on high heels for hours and hours and hours.

If there is one campaign we women need to launch between now and next year's Oscar weekend, it's daring to sport flats at these fashion-intensive events. I saw so many women walking around carrying their high heels at the Vanity Fair party -- including Laurie David and Kathy Hurley, the wife of YouTube founder Chad Hurley. I did them one better and left mine with a helpful bartender, Lauren.

I'm not sure if I'm bold enough to go cold turkey on this -- that's why I thought I would enlist a support group. Party-going women of the word unite; we have nothing to lose but our podiatric agony.
