Sunday Roundup

Listening to Liz Cheney falsely suggest that President Obama wants to deal with terrorists by "hand-holding," and falsely insist that her father never suggested there was a link between 9/11 and Iraq made me wish that TV execs were planning to do a political version of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! I'd much rather see Cheney put a tarantula in her mouth (a la Patti Blagojevich) than continually sticking her foot there. She could be joined in the jungle by fellow foot muncher Sen. Jeff Sessions, who demonstrated the value of empathy when he showed none, reacting to the tears of a 12-year old boy whose mother is facing deportation by saying, "Enough with the histrionics." And there is still time to suggest the 5-word acceptance speech I should give at tomorrow's Webby Awards.

Hi! They call me Mr. Gloom. Here are my latest "reality check" gloom and doom predictions. Unemployment will hit 15% before any real recovery is apparent. The U.S.A. will continue to be bogged down in the latest U.S. foriegn war policy debacle (currently : Iraq and Afghanistan, among others). The health care system, like the Empire in general, will continue to fail as Big Pharma and Big Insurance fight for their ever -diminishing piece of the pie. Foreclosures will continue as the housing mess expands. Factories will continue to close etc. etc....and with all the INCREDIBLE amounts of money being "spent" (keystroke dough--it's not printed much) by the U.S. Government , begun mainly under G.W. Bush (among others), the U.S.A. will become the new Argentina, with inflation sky high and our currency collapsing (along with the other "developed" world economies). The suffering, which has already begun, will reach catastrophic proportions, unseen by humans (except in the third world). Peace be with you. Tim Considine www.thederelicks.com

Why are we still listening to these people, and why are talk show hosts still booking them? All they want is attention from people who will fawn over them and validate their delusions.
11:44 PM on 06/07/2009
In my humble judgment the talk show hosts are revealing their ideological biases. During the Bush Presidency the overwhelming majority of guests booked on talk shows were Republicans as documented by FAIR and Media Matters. The media justified this by saying that Republicans were in power. Now, under Obama Presidency, the overwhelming of guest booked on talk shows are still Republicans. And not just Republicans but extremist right wing Republicans. I have yet to hear the media's justification for why they continue to favor Republicans even though Democrats won the presidency and the Congress.

Well, I am confident that 22+ appearances on MSNBC is enough from Liz.
More than enough.
If I knew the number of the complaint department, I'd give them a call.
Do you have that number, and maybe a few email addresses?
Thanks in advance.

I think you raise some serious issues, but ther are blured by the focus on personalities, rather than policies. Two issues that I see as important is 1, should we set free in America, Chinese Uighur terrorists, because they are 'innocent' of plotting terror against the US, even though they trained in al Qaeda camps at Tora Bora for the purpose of using terror against people living in western China, including other ethnic groups who are moderate muslims? We are planing to do this because we "are afraid" that China will persecute them instead of prosectut them. At the same time, that we offer support to China's militant dissidents, we ask China to help clean up the militant dissidents opperating in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and not give asylem to them. Double standard? Wacky?

Then the issue of our immigration policy ve those who support violating the immigration policy, disrespect for democratic policy making and the rule of law, and the plan to reward those who break the law. Don't tell me they do not know what they are doing. And don't tell me they are not crushing our economy. Why do you suppose we hane so many of our citizens in jail? Especially those from inner cities. Do you not understand how the underground economy is gutting hope for Americas minorities?

Illegals need to go home, now, going voluntarily would be best, but if not, then we should send them home.

The ONLY reason the networks have Liz Cheney on is to allow someone to express DICK Cheney's rationalizations and lies without journalistic pressure to challenge her on them.

No one should have ANY Cheney on ANY public airwaves until Dick has been accountable--has answered tough questions somewhere----a genuine press conference, uncensored townhall, or, preferably, under oath in a courtroom.

This would be nice. I hope we lean further toward becoming an actual a nation of laws but along this path she may well become a payed analyst next to 'say anything' Carl Rove on the oh so fair and ballanced network..

Once there is a special prosecutor and those pesky subpoenas are issued, will they stop flapping their yaps?

Palin won't be running in 2012, she'll try to take off but she just don't got the wings. But Cheney is looking like a shoe-in for the republicans attempt to get back on the map. Despite her foot in her mouth she can actually keep talking without sounding too desperate, or repeating glib nothings; despite her mendacity she has more substance than we're used to with the perublicans. Must be the inherited genes guaranteeing her natural facility for B S.

I have a perfect, satisfying, Republican ticket for 2012. Palin for President and Liz Cheney for V.P. What fun! It would be deja vu all over again, but with women. This stuff just writes itself.

I believe that we need to concentrate as to why these people are trying so hard to undermine the President's efforts. Sure, in the Cheneys' case, they are trying to save Dick Cheney from prosecution. But, they, too, have other motives in undermining peace in the mideast and all of those ramifications, whether it be Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, wherever. The common denomination for all of it has always been weapons and arms and oil. These people only have money as their motivation to stick the finger to our President and the rest of Americans. They want an arms race....to sell weapons. North Korea and it's peacock display of it missile capability lately is to adverstise to those they could sell to....so, how is that different from a Rumsfeld or Cheney mentality? Yes, and of course Al Queda wants to kill Americans. The priority is to root them out. . But, in my opinion, an even greater threat to peace are our own. The evil thread in this country who thrive on a culture of war....a world of war...where oil and weapons profits rule everything, even peace.

News Media, can you please get Liz Cheney out of our face. The issue is not trying to justify her father's decisions in going to war and approving water boarding, but when will be the start of the trial on how the war was manipuated that killed thousands of American trroops and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi people.
