The Winners and Losers of Campaign '08
WINNERS:
The Davids - Axelrod and Plouffe: they spearheaded a near flawless campaign.
Katie Couric: her multi-part interview with Sarah Palin was the turning point in how the country saw Palin -- and by extension John McCain. And she did it in a way that left no room for accusations of being unfair or playing "Gotcha!"
Colin Powell, Scott McClellan, Ken Adelman, Chris Buckley, Kenneth Duberstein, et al: crossing party lines to endorse the eventual winner can't hurt the rep.
Saturday Night Live: went from "Is that still on?" to Must See TV (or, at least, Must See on YouTubeTV)
Tina Fey: her take on Palin was pitch perfect; a comedy mugging for the ages. And with Palin's obvious weight loss during the campaign, she ended up looking more and more like her 30 Rock doppelganger.
Sarah Palin: lost an election but there has to be a reality show in her future.
Michelle Obama: smarts, grace, style, charm, and a serious "good mommy" vibe -- she's got the whole package.
The View: went from gal chat to political headline maker.
MSNBC: Keith, Rachel, Chris... they sent a collective tingle went up the leg of progressive viewers everywhere.

LOSERS:
Joe Lieberman: failed to deliver Democrats, independents, or Jews. And on the way to losing his committee chairmanships.
Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Dick Morris, and hate-mongers everywhere: the stink didn't stick to Obama but it stuck to them.
Bill Clinton: it's gonna take a lot of work to repair the rep.
John McCain: see Bill Clinton.
Liddy Dole: see Clinton and McCain. Her "Godless" ad will be taught in What Not To Do poli sci classes for a century.
George W. Bush: the repudiation of his presidency was overwhelming and across-the-board.
The Republican Party: the emptiness of its philosophic underpinnings was exposed for all to see.
Joe the Plumber: the clock just hit 15 minutes, and the wakeup call will not be pleasant. Joe the Plumber, meet Clara Peller ("Where's the beef?!").

Michelle Bachmann MN - Yes she won the election by a few points but she showed a nation what intolerance and gracelessness really looked like in the clear light of day.. Very Ugly

Fox News on election Night- I almost laughed at their coverage of the election.. some real sad faces

Community Organizers- who knocked on doors, sent out petitions and made phone calls and used the internet for the President Elect to become president Are you listening republican GOP?
Face Book- Really was instrumental in the election campaign
Me- Thank you President -Elect Obama! While I do not know what the future holds, the Mccain/ Palin ticket held little promise and indirectly was saying "No you can't " In dark times, we need a leader to say "Yes we can"
I would add to your list of winners:
1) Huffington Post, fivethirtyeight.com (Nate Silver WE LOVE YOU), and the Blogosphere - motto "the News for the Reality Based Community"
2) The American People - motto "We're Not as Stupid as You Thought We Were"
3) The "Twenty-somethings - motto "And you thought we weren't going to vote?" This 60 year old white girl who remembers the smell of tear gas, Chicago in 1968, and that Elvis was an awesome singer but there's only been one "King." WE LOVE YOU - YOU SAVED OUR ASS.

I think you would have loved it if you truly loathe fox news. From the beginning to end they put this man through all sorts of humiliating story and false innuendo. hey are going to be criticizing him for the next 4 years.
Another winner is Paris Hilton. She turned the tables on John McCain and the Celebrity ad. She came away a real winner.
Interesting that Bill Clinton is singled out as loser, for good reason, and Hillary is not.
Both the Clintons are HUGE losers in 2008. Hillary began the year as the inevitable nominee, the first viable female candidate for president in a nation eager for change, with a huge politcial machine, a hand-picked "dream team" staff, huge and full campaign coffers, and a popular ex-president campiaigning full-time for her in a Democratic primary. She had more advantages than any candidate in history, demonstrated poor judgment, poor leadership, dishonesty, divisive Rove-style tactics and LOST. She drove her inevitability into a ditch.
She and Bill also are also big losers because they agressively with mean spirit not only opposed Obama but tried to destroy him. No amount of "oh that's just politics, heat of the campaign, you know" erases that. Their whisper campaign that Obama could not win and only Hillary beat the GOP demonstrated how dated, out of touch, and ineffective their political instincts have become. The Clintons - major losers in 2008 and destined to the history books in less than flatering footnotes.
Add Rev Wright, Acorn, and Bill Ayers and wife to loser list as they were exposed so we could see some friends in action. Add Jesse Jackson and L.F. to winner listing for being able to truely get their message across.
Don’t you have friends that others would not approve of? Have you not said or done something’s in your past you yourself are not proud of? So why would that make them loser? We need more people like Mr. Ayers today standing up for our American children being sent of to war(To die) with out the chance to live. Fighting for another country to have equality when they don’t have equality here at home. Dying to a lie in a war that stands for pride(Bush Pride) I count Ayers as a hero, and those like him, a little left wing but so is bush. Ayers is now teaching our children. Bush also taught our children lies, hate and death. Rev Wright, spoke his mind and told the truth how are one going to fight anyone who don’t share your views, yet you don’t honor them yourself? We as a country will pay for the deeds which we approved Because if you don’t stand against sin then you stand in it. You say how if you're married and we are friends your wife/husband is like my sister/brother and we go out and I see you cheating and don’t say nothing to you but smile and go along with it I joined you in your sin. We need more people to stand up for the truth and speak it. If for GOD we live then for GOD we die.

Haven't read all comments, but one Big Loser would have to be Repub commentator Bay Buchanan on King's CNN show. Her shrill victimization shreiks against anything not Fox-media were as ostentatious as Sarah Palin's RNC wardrobe.
I would add Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart and Bill Maher to the list of winners. Anne Coulter is a given for the loser list, on oh soooooooo many levels.

The alienation of Latinos by the GOP & Talk Radio and spearheaded by the fat bastard on CNN delivered a resounding win in Nevada, New Mexico & Colorado....

Loser -- the Sixties. I think that we finally have the divisive 60's behind us with the defeat of McCain.
WINNERS: The American people, Hillary Clinton (who became a gracious woman -- an ingredient which previously seemed missing from her personna), Katrina vanden Heuvel (loved her response to on Michele Bachmann's madness), Barack & Michelle (nice example of "the perfect fit" couple and parents, Powell (loved his reasons for supporting Obama and his statement that an American-born Muslim has every right to run for president), Ms. Huffington....
LOSERS: Michele Bachmann, Hannity, Dobbs, Leiberman, Fox News for election coverage AND re-signing Hannity, -- the list of losers was quite long but I give them credit for eating crow without bitching too much.
Lifelong Winner Senator Clinton...
...Gave 6 million poor children health care - SCHIP, help place 3x more foster children in adopted homes, got pell grants increased over five thousand bucks and available to non-traditional students year round, got thousands of national guardmen health benefits, created the HIPPIE program now in over 26 states and funded thousands of preschool and afterschool programs. And that is just the first sentence to her stellar forty year resume.
Senator Clinton has worked for and defended disenfranchised americans her whole adult life. She is the people's champ with the results to prove it. Graciousness has never been absent from this great leaders "personna". But unchecked ignorance like yours is, unfortunately for us all, bountiful. Thank fully your's will be forgotten, but she and her work will live on.
God bless America. Godspeed President Obama. And always...Go Hillary!
Hillary Cltinton a winner? what a huge laugh. Her poor judgmet and leadership resulted in a humilating defeat that ended any national as[pirations. She will be lucky to hold on to her Senate seat after alienating many Democrats who were once her supporyters.
YES to barack, michelle, their family, friends and true supporters from all over the world.
