Ethel Merman insisted "there's no business like show business." Well, I'm about to find out firsthand -- and I'd love you to join me at the start of the journey.
I am one of the executive producers of a new sitcom being developed for ABC. It's called Freshmen, and is about three newly-elected members of Congress who end up rooming together.
The show was created and written by Greg Malins, who has been an executive producer on Friends, Will and Grace, and How I Met Your Mother. It will star Sarah Chalke from Scrubs.
Here's where you come in: we are shooting the pilot episode next Friday, March 12, and I'd love for you Los Angeles HuffPosters to come to the taping.
The show is being taped on the 20th Century Fox lot in Century City. To be part of the audience, you'll have to arrive at the studio by 4:30 p.m. The actual taping starts at 6 o'clock and should be done by 9 or 10.
If you want to come to the taping, send an email to tickets@audiencesunlimited.com (just put "Freshmen" in the subject line). The folks there will then get back to you with all the details.
Seating is limited, so please only sign up for tickets if you are sure you can make it.
It's going to be a lot of fun, and I look forward to seeing you there!

If it were about three Repulican freshmen congress people, you could call it "GET LOST." Senator Jim Bunning could be the Blowing-Smoke-Up-Your-Butt Monster.
Its set in the divergent reality of a parallel universe. Which, as we all know, is where most of them originate. A sort of “Third Senator, From Under An Alternate Sunâ€. If you will.
BUT why on earth would you pick that name for the show?
CNN has been running a series for over a year now titled 'Freshman Year In Congress' which highlights two freshman representatives that document their experience for CNN:
Rep. Jared Polis a Democrat representing Colorado's Second district
Rep. Jason Chaffetz a Republican representing Utah's Third district

By taping select segments on H Post you'd get the feedback you need and the exposure which you realy need.

I have an idea for a new sitcom myself. Its called "Senators" and each episode is going to focus on the antics of one zany Senator. Like a half hour of Jim Bunning driveling on for the cameras and ducking reporters in the Senate elevator. Another week, maybe Ben Nelson screwing his constituents and the country as a whole. With maybe a bonus feature of the stupidest prop or chart used by a Senator that week.
He seems to have passed all the screen tests.
