The Care Villa is a shelter for blind refugees in Thailand's Mae La refugee camp. The Villa provides full time care for 13 physically handicapped and dependent landmine survivors who have lost their hands, legs, eyesight and hearing. Day only care is also provided for an additional 7 blind amputees who live with their families in the refugee camp. Like thousands of others in Mae La, the residents of Care Villa have fled ongoing conflict and poverty in neighboring Myanmar's Karen State.
