This Friday marks the beginning of the every four year, month-long madness known as the World Cup. The artworld has joined the World Cup fervor, with Apexart hosting a special exhibition called Men with Balls and screenings for every game of the Cup! Other exciting events going on this week are the opening on Thursday at PPOW of Ben Gocker's There Really is No Single Poem, the Collection exhibition at Christina Ray and Michael Bevilacqua's second solo exhibition, The Placebo Effect at Gering & Lopez. Happening all weekend is Figment, a free participatory arts festival on Governors Island. Lots of parties too: the QMA Gala is being held Wednesday, June 9th, Thursday the Chelsea Art Museum is having its annual Summer Solstice Party and on Friday the American Folk Art Museum is throwing its Young Patron's Party.
