Marty Durbin

President and CEO, America’s Natural Gas Alliance

Martin (Marty) J. Durbin is President and Chief Executive Officer of America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA), representing North America’s largest independent natural gas exploration and production companies. In this role, Mr. Durbin oversees ANGA’s work with industry, governmental and consumer stakeholders to promote the increased use of America’s natural gas resources for a cleaner and more secure energy future.

Prior to joining ANGA, Mr. Durbin served as Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at the American Petroleum Institute (API). At API, Mr. Durbin was responsible for integrating all of API’s advocacy resources including government affairs, mobilization, communications, policy and legal work, in support of the organization’s priority advocacy objectives. During his tenure at API, Mr. Durbin significantly increased visibility and engagement in policy and political debates at the local, state, and national level, and represented API frequently through congressional testimony, TV, radio and print media.

Before his work at API, Mr. Durbin served as Vice President of Federal Relations at the American Chemistry Council (ACC), directing federal legislative advocacy and coordinating direct lobbying, coalition building, and ACC’s political programs. Earlier in his eight-year tenure with ACC, he served as Managing Director of Security, developing and implementing the association’s post-9/11 facility security program and directing its advocacy both with Congress and with the newly-formed Department of Homeland Security.

Prior to the merger of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and the American Plastics Council (APC) in 2002, Mr. Durbin directed Federal and International Affairs for APC, serving as a liaison to sister organizations in Europe, Japan, South America, Mexico and Canada.
Earlier in his career he served as a legislative assistant for Senator Alan J. Dixon (D-IL) and for Representative Rick Boucher (D-VA), where his responsibilities included issues related to the environment and energy.

Mr. Durbin currently serves as Chairman of the Board for A Wider Circle, a grassroots nonprofit organization. Dedicated to ending poverty, A Wider Circle provides beds, furniture, basic need items and support to families coming out of homelessness. He was also elected to the Advisory Board of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

Mr. Durbin received a BA in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland College Park. He is married and has three children.
