Aileen Gabbey

Executive Director, Maryland SPCA

Aileen Gabbey is the Executive Director of The Maryland SPCA in Baltimore. She first became involved in the animal welfare cause while living on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands where she volunteered for the Humane Society of St. Thomas. Upon moving back to the states, she started volunteering at The Maryland SPCA and was hired as Director of Volunteers and Events in 1997 and, in 1999, became Executive Director.

She has served as Chair of the Baltimore Animal Control Advisory Board and the Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance and was recently named to Baltimore’s Anti-Animal Abuse Commission and Maryland’s Spay and Neuter Task Force. Aileen has been honored in Baltimore Magazine’s ‘Forty Under Forty’ issue and received the Smart CEO Brava! Women Business Achievement Award in 2010. She lives in Baltimore with her husband Neil, a teacher at Gilman School, and their MD SPCA pets, an American Eskimo dog and a Calico cat.
