Alex Donner’s eclectic music has danced off the walls of the most glamorous parties on the East Coast. With clients ranging from the suburbs looking for a sophisticated repertory, to the chicest Manhattan soirees, he has built a reputation in the last 25 years as a singer and bandleader for elegant music worthy of the best galas.



Dubbed “The Latter-Day Lester Lanin” by the New York Times, Alex Donner has become a staple of the society circuit, upscale weddings and other events including benefits and debutante balls. His company, Alex Donner Entertainment has grown to encompass six different NewYork-themed bands and books combos ranging from classical duos and trios, to funk and Top 40, to R&B and their specialty society dance music.



A plethora of luminaries have been the band’s audience over the years. President George Bush, Donald Trump, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, The Rockefeller’s, Tony Bennett, Itzhak Pearlman, NatalieCole, Kevin Klein, Lou Dobbs, Susan Lucci, Queen Noor of Jordan, King and Queen of Sweden, Kitty Carlisle Hart and Harry Belafonte have been among their listeners. Alex Donner and his bands have played for events held in landmark buildings such as Carnegie Hall, The Plaza Hotel, the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, Doris Duke’s Rough Point, as well as New York Botanical Garden and the Royal Scandinavian Yacht Club in Connecticut. Additionally, they have performed for many charity organizations including the American Cancer Society, NYC’s Animal Medical Center, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, Ford Foundation, Southampton Hospital and Island Moving Co., Newport’s resident contemporary ballet company.



Alex Donner is no stranger to high society and class. He grew up on Fifth Avenue in New York City and graduated from Princeton University to become a divorce lawyer. While studying law, Mr. Donner kept his passion for music burning by appearing as a singer and bandleader on the weekends. In the 1970’s while still in school, he sang alongside legendary bandleader Lester Lanin, who supplied music for presidential inaugurations. Donner also worked in his office learning the business of band music. By 1986, his musical career had taken off and he gave up law entirely. Since then, he has been giving millions of music-lovers reason to get up and dance.



Alex Donner currently has three albums entitled “White Tie,” “Black Tie Blues” and his latest “Alex Donner at The Tiffany Ball,” was released in 2008.
