Amy Reger

Researcher, Uyghur Human Rights Project (UHRP)

Amy Reger is the researcher at the Uyghur American Association's Uyghur Human Rights Project (UHRP), which works to promote human rights and democracy for the Uyghur people, and to raise awareness of human rights abuses that occur in East Turkestan (also known as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region). Prior to her employment at UHRP, she worked as the assistant director of the Laogai Research Foundation, a human rights organization working to promote awareness about China’s forced labor prison camp system. Ms. Reger also previously worked as a researcher in both the Chinese Branch and the East Asia Research Center of the Voice of America. She has spoken on Uyghur human rights issues at events held in the U.S. Congress and the National Endowment for Democracy, and has authored numerous reports and articles for publication, including the New Statesman. Ms. Reger studied at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center, National Taiwan University and Peking University, and speaks Mandarin Chinese.
